Health & Safety

Statement of Sycol Ltd Safety Policy (Health and Safety at Work Act 19740

It is Sycol Ltd's policy to ensure, so far as it is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all its staff in accordance with the relevant statutory requirements.

Within the general policy stated above it is the Sycol Ltd's policy in particular:

  • to provide and maintain systems of work that are, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe and without risks to health
  • to make arrangements for ensuring, so far as is reasonably practicable, safety and absence of risks to health in connection with use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances
  • to provide such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to ensure, so fair as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety at work of its employees
  • so far as is reasonably practicable as regards any place or work under Sycol Ltd's control to maintain it in a condition that is safe and without risk to health and to provide and maintain means of access to and exit from it that are safe and without such risks
  • to provide and maintain a working environment for its employees that is, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe, without risks to health, and adequate as regards facilities and arrangements for their welfare at work
  • to provide such protective equipment as is necessary to ensure, as far as us reasonably practicable, the health and safety at work of its staff
  • to encourage staff to set a high standard of safety by personal example and to accept a reasonable level of reasonability for the health and safety of themselves and their colleagues
  • the Health and Safety Policy Group is reasonable through its Chairman for ensuring the implementation of Sycol Ltd's safety policy to encourage staff to undertake recognigsed training in First Aid.

 

Access

We want our web site to be as accessible as possible and strive to conform at a minimum to Level Double-A compliance as specified by the Web Accessibility Initiative. The guidelines defined by the WAI also form the basis of the standard required by the Royal National Institute for the Blind and their "See it right" campaign. We aim to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act of 1995 with respect to the provision of services online, as required by the Disability Rights Commission. This Act states unambiguously that private and public sector web sites must be accessible.

This web site has also been developed to meet the requirements of the Quality Framework for UK Government Website Design as published by The Office of the e-Envoy.

Sycol Ltd attempts at all times to be friendly to the environment and is committed to conserving resources and contributing positively and responsibly to the environment.
We aim to ensure that we:

  • Perform as much of our business as possible electronically and minimise paper use
  • Recycle materials where possible - especially paper, and electronic items
  • Dispose of waste through safe and responsible means
  • Choose electrical equipment that consumes low energy and ensure that non-critical equipment is switched off when not needed
  • Wherever possible, purchase recycled products
  • Our environmental policy is communicated to all of our staff and progress is monitored and reported
